Our client is a collection of five stunning lodges in one of Africa’s ultimate natural treasures; Tanzania. Each location has been carefully selected for their unique experiences, across incredibly diverse ecological areas, taking you on a trail less traveled to some of Tanzania’s most untouched and unique National Parks

The role of the Lodge Managers is to focus on the following aspects:

  1. Refine the current service standards at your lodge
  2. Retain and help develop a culture of service
  3. Retain and help develop a culture of care for one another and the company’s asset
  4. Retain and help develop a working environment that shows respect to one another at all times 5. Generate an ownership and pride in one’s lodge or camp amongst the staff

The immediate areas requiring attention include:

  1. Service
  2. F&B
  3. Guest Experience

The long-term strategy is to ensure a defined service offering and operational standards in the business for the camps and lodges. Your roles include but are not limited to the following;

Lodge Management:

  • The management of the Lodge service and offering
  • Management of the lodge through defined standards
  • Development of a service culture in all departments and aspects of the lodge
  • Constantly improve the service and expand on the Lodge offering while at all times updating the standards in these new aspects of the offering
  • Maintaining and improving operational standards and procedures
  • Always striving to exceed the expectations of the guests
  • Introducing processes to continually develop the product and services offered
  • Management of all departments with a particular focus on F&B, housekeeping and activities on offer at the lodge

The management of the Staff

  • Development of the organizational structure within your lodge.
  • Assisting the Operations Managers in the appointment and administration of new staff
  • Attending to the staff welfare and development and meeting reasonable expectations
  • Managing the business through the staff

System and Budgetary Control

  • The management of the financial systems and controls needed in the business
  • Monthly and weekly financial reporting against targets and management systems as required by the head office
  • Management of the annual Lodge budgets.
  • Ensure proper procurement and stock management systems are in place and adhered to at all times
  • Management of a process to drive revenue up and to manage costs down in all aspects of the business but without impacting on the offering and service to the guests

Management and care of the assets

  • Develop a standard and process to ensure the ongoing maintenance of all the Lodge facilities
  • both front of house and back of the house

  • Understand the architectural and design integrity of the facilities and maintain the concept and detail in this regard o Ensure both preventative and corrective maintenance schedules are developed and maintained for all areas, services and equipment

Environmental standards

  • Continuously improve on the way in which we operate from an efficiency point of view and with respect to the environment
  • Development of initiatives to decrease our environmental footprint at the lodge and in the way in which we operate.

The role is conditional on the following conditions:

  • Obtaining work permits in Tanzania The documentation required for the application of a statutory Immigration permit includes:
  • Latest CV
  • Birth certificates for self and family members
  • Marriage certificate if married
  • Passport size photographs (14) of self, and the same for each of those family members who may live in Tanzania with you for full time or for some shorter durations (4 each) – blue background
  • Photocopy of first 5 pages of own passports
  • Copies of academic certificates, degree certificates and testimonials
  • Copy of appointment letter from current employer or last employer
  • Copy of experience certificate and ‘No Objection Certificate’ (if worked in Tanzania before) from current employer or last employer.
