Client Overview

Our client is a tranquil and clean campsite with beautiful bushy grounds. Over the years, they have become one of the most famous locations on Lake Naivasha. They are not just a campsite, they have it all from accommodation, bar and restaurant, onsite activities and activities located right beside their camp.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Overall responsibility for daily operations in the kitchen
  • Maintain or raise the profit margins on food, working closely with procurement
  • Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities
  • Modify menus or create new ones that meet quality standards
  • Supervise kitchen staff’s activities
  • Available to work all kinds of shifts including late nights, weekends and holidays
  • Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
  • Along with managers, recruit & manage kitchen staff
  • Rectify arising problems and customer complaints
  • Give prepared plates the “final touch” – monitor and ensure plated food is above expectations
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling and procurement
  • Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
  • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

Required Experience

  • 100% honesty
  • Minimum 5 years kitchen experience, including 3 years head-chef experience
  • Ability to keep calm, composed and organized during busy times
  • Hard work ethic and willing to work 48-56 hours per week
  • Physically able to work extended hours on your feet
  • Excellent record of kitchen management
  • A proficient understanding of produce and ingredients
  • The ability to write menus that are both creative and profitable
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently and quickly
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks
  • Strong communication skills, ability to lead a team of 5 or more kitchen members Keep up with cooking trends and best practices
  • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, MS Excel, restaurant management software, POS)
