Our client, a privately owned and managed luxury safari camp, offers guests a unique opportunity to relive the golden era of the safari in absolute elegance, 5 star comfort, the finest cuisine surrounded by the spectacle of the great African wilderness. They are currently looking for a Chief Operating Officer.

Job Purpose

Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, organize, coordinate and supervise the accounting operations of the company and maintain related financial records; provide internal control of fiscal plans and budgets; develop and prepare studies in the area budget.


Key  Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Budgets and Cash flow

  • Responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations.

  • Preparation of Full set of accounts on periodic basis.

  • Responsible for monthly financial statements, creditors & Debtors.

  • Maintenance of Revenue Invoice, debt collection and Tax computation.

  • Preparation and submission of VAT return on a monthly basis.

  • Receiving all orders from the Lodge and source for competitive suppliers.

  • Ensure all supplies are properly packed, loaded and transported to Lodge.

  • Preparation of payment vouchers and journal entries

  • Maintenance of Cash books and reconciliations.

  • Perform camp operation costing and cost tracking.

  • Preparation of monthly payroll.

  • Presentation of annual budgets and monthly management accounts to the Board of
    Directors.

  • Preparation of all statutory deductions and timely online submission and payment.

  • Maintenance of Head office HR paperwork.

  • Preparation of audit and assisting the auditors with the various requirements.

  • Overseeing the procurement function.

  • Overseeing Transport and Logistics for the hospitality division.

  • Liaison with the Camp Manager for reporting and petty cash management.

 

Educational Background

  • Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (desirable)

  • CPA (K)

  • Minimum of 5 years working experience at a similar position

 

Skills and other competencies

  • Expertise in the functioning of an international financial institution or financial services
    institution.

  • Risk Analysis and Management.

  • Data Analysis.

  • Expertise in internal audit, risk & control, compliance functions.

  • Ability to plan, manage and follow through on assignments and communicate at all levels of the organizational timely and professional manner.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent communications and presentation skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-motivation, determination and confidence in your abilities.

  • Strong IT skills(Word, PowerPoint, advanced Excel)
